Jean-Eric Vergne has dropped to 16th in the official classification for the US GP as the stewards deemed him responsible for his last lap crash with Esteban Gutierrez. Fighting just outside the top ten in Sunday's race in Texas, Vergne and Gutierrez clashed resulting in the Sauber spinning of the track. Called before the stewards, Vergne was blamed for the incident with the Toro Rosso driver being slapped with a retrospective drive-through penalty. As a result, the Frenchman had 20 seconds added to his time which meant he dropped from 12th to 16th. Vergne, however, blames Gutierrez for the shunt.
