Works teams will have 'massive advantage' – Allison

Ferrari technical director James Allison believes Formula 1′s works teams will have a 'massive advantage' in 2014, as they will have their chassis and engine development under one roof. This season will see a raft of new regulations debut, including 1.6 litre turbocharged V6 power-units replacing the previous 2.4 litre V8 engines. The 2014 cars have to be ready for the first winter test at the Jerez circuit on January 28th. Allison thinks that the complicated nature of packaging the new power-units will give the ‘works' teams the edge over their rivals. 'One of the massive advantages that this team has is that it has the engine and chassis under one roof,' he told AUTOSPORT....
