Valtteri Bottas struck with grid penalty after miserable qualifying for Williams

Valtteri Bottas has been struck with a three-place grid penalty for the Malaysian Grand Prix, after the race stewards deemed the Finn to have blocked the Red Bull of Daniel Ricciardo in Q2. This comes after a miserable qualifying session for the Grove-based outfit, who struggled greatly in the inclement weather conditions and were both eliminated from proceeding after the second segment. Despite their competitiveness in dry conditions, Williams struggled with rear-end grip throughout the qualifying session which was run in treacherously wet weather conditions after an extreme thunderstorm struck the Sepang International Circuit between the final practice session and the start of Q1.
