Van der Garde to replace Gutiérrez in FP1

– Sauber has confirmed that test and reserve driver Giedo van der Garde will replace Esteban Gutiérrez for the first free practice session at this weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix, as the first of multiple planned outings. The Dutchman, who has joined the team after a race stint at Caterham, previously informed GPUpdate.net of his plans to complete the opening 90 minute session at Sakhir, but it was not clear which driver he would replace. Van der Garde will also be in action on the second day of the subsequent post-race test in Bahrain, taking place from April 8-9. On Day 1, fellow tester Sergey Sirotkin will drive to fulfil the requirements for a Super Licence.
