Gerard Lopez insists Lotus are back to their former competitiveness

Lotus chairman and team principal Gerard Lopez firmly believes his team are now back to their former competitiveness of the previous season, after Romain Grosjean finally managed to secure the Enstone-based outfit’s first points of the new campaign at the Spanish Grand Prix. Despite Grosjean finishing eighth, Pastor Maldonado still endured a race to forget down in 15th with yet another penalty point added to his name. However, Gerard Lopez has insisted that Pastor Maldonado would also have finished the Spanish Grand Prix within the points along with his French team-mate had he not suffered the numerous issues which plagued the former race winner throughout the weekend.
