Vandoorne completes 136 laps to secure F1 Superlicense

McLaren youngster Stoffel Vandoorne got his first taste of Formula One machinery on Wednesday at the post-Spanish Grand Prix test, the Belgian completing 136 laps at the wheel of the MP4-29 to gain his Superlicense in the process. Vandoorne, who finished as the runner-up to current McLaren race driver Kevin Magnussen in last year’s Formula Renault 3.5 championship, was tasked with completing running for Italian tyre supplier Pirelli on his first day of testing for the Woking-based outfit. The Belgian completed 136 laps of trouble-free running – 600km – over the course of the day on his way to ninth fastest, to meet the requirements to obtain his Formula One Superlicense...
