Hamilton leads the way in Monaco first practice

The Monaco Grand Prix weekend kicked off – as usual – on Thursday morning, with Lewis Hamilton setting the pace in first practice. With a threat of rain for the afternoon session, it was a busy 90 minutes of running. Esteban Gutierrez, Kevin Magnussen and Jean-Eric Vergne were the first to take to the newly resurfaced track when the green light was signalled. Nico Rosberg was the first driver to set a lap time. The German driver set the early pace and traded fastest laps with Hamilton mid-way through the session, running on the soft tyre. However, he was just beaten to the top spot by the chequered flag.
