Rosberg escapes penalty, keeps pole

Nico Rosberg has avoided punishment for his error in qualifying which led to him getting pole position for the Monaco Grand Prix. The stewards opted to investigate Rosberg after he ran wide at Mirabeau on his final flying lap and then reversed back on to the track. Rosberg was already on provisional pole position and the incident meant none of the following drivers - including team-mate Lewis Hamilton - could improve their times. Hamilton cut an angry figure after the end of the session and the stewards decided that an investigation was required to work out if Rosberg had deliberately caused the incident in order to protect his qualifying position.
