Ericsson penalised, will start Monaco GP from pit lane

Marcus Ericsson will start the Monaco Grand Prix from the pit lane after causing a collision with Felipe Massa's Williams during qualifying on Saturday. The incident happened during the Q1 phase as Ericsson tried to pass the Brazilian on the inside of the Mirabeau turn and, even though he seemed to have enough room, lost control and both cars hit the barriers. Massa, who joined Williams from Ferrari last year, was tenth best in Q1, but he had to return to the pits and was subsequently ruled out of Q2. In a separate incident, Toro Rosso driver Daniil Kvyat was given a reprimand when he was ruled to have impeded the Lotus of Pastor Maldonado at Turn 19 during Q1.
