Perez handed five-place grid penalty for Austria

Sergio Perez has been handed a five-place grid penalty for his part in the accident that ended both his and Felipe Massa’s Canadian Grand Prix. Perez, running fourth late in the race, was hit by Massa’s Williams on the entry to turn one on the final lap of the grand prix, leading to a heavy accident that eliminated both drivers on the spot. The FIA stewards have deemed the Mexican to be at fault for the collision, which saw both drivers sent to a local hospital for precautionary checks before being discharged.
