Ricciardo a popular first time winner

Praise has poured in from up and down the pit lane to congratulate Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo after the Australian claimed a popular maiden Formula One win during Sunday’s Canadian Grand Prix. Starting sixth, Ricciardo spent the opening phase of the race tucked up behind the two Williams cars, but an early stop saw him past Felipe Massa. Having cleared his team-mate Sebastian Vettel at the final round of stops, Ricciardo went on to pass both Sergio Perez’s Force India and the ailing Mercedes of Nico Rosberg in the final laps of the grand prix to secure his first win in Formula One.
