Caterham sells stake in Alpine sportscar venture

Caterham has sold its stake in the partnership designed to resurrect the Alpine sportscar brand, giving Renault 100 per cent control. The two parties forged an agreement to develop and manufacture cars as a joint venture under the Société des Automobiles Alpine Caterham banner back in 2012, but, following a mutual agreement between Renault and Caterham Group, the French marque has now increased its stake to 100 per cent. While the Caterham Group plans to continue with its own sportscar, the announcement will naturally cast further speculation over the company's future following rumours in Malaysia that Tony Fernandes was looking to offload the brand.
