Lotus employee sacked for gay Sochi tweet

Lotus reportedly dismissed its social media guru after he tweeted a picture of two men kissing on the eve of the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, for fear it could damage the team's "credibility and financial interests". The tweet said "ahead of the opening ceremony, we would like to wish all athletes a successful 2014 Winter Games", with the accompanying picture, a reference to Russia's controversial anti-gay laws. It was swiftly taken down and labelled "unauthorised" in the subsequent apology message. Lotus owners Genii Capital have significant business interests in Russia, while mobile phone maker YotaPhone started sponsoring the team this season. A report in...
