Rosberg tops first practice as Massa crashes Williams

Nico Rosberg easily topped the first practice session at Silverstone, edging out team mate Lewis Hamilton by a comfortable 7 tenths. Fernando Alonso went third fastest, just a tenth shy of Hamilton. Daniel Ricciardo was the fastest Renault powered runner, posting the 4th best time of the morning, 1.2s down on the fastest Mercedes. Most attention however went to Felipe Massa as he heavily crashed his Williams FW36 on the exit of Stowe. He spun into the opposite wall and did considerably damage to his car.
