Ricciardo and Rosberg avoid penalties for red flag practice infringements

Daniel Ricciardo and Nico Rosberg have both avoided penalties after the pair were found to have overtaken cars under the red flags during opening practice ahead of the British Grand Prix. Free practice one was red-flagged following Felipe Massa’s crash at the exit of Stowe early in the session. Under red flag conditions drivers are not permitted to overtake rival cars. However, Rosberg – the fastest man in opening practice – was seen to pass Daniil Kvyat’s Toro Rosso, while Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo overtook Fernando Alonso.
