Former Mercedes DTM boss Ungar set to join Caterham

Former Mercedes DTM Technical Director Gerhard Ungar is set to join Caterham F1’s management team, according to reports, as team boss Colin Kolles continues his restructuring operation. Ungar, who was relieved of his DTM-duties in May after Mercedes endured a disastrous start to their 2014 season, is believed to have visited Caterham’s Leafield factory on Monday, ahead of an expected announcement confirming his new role later this week. Former team boss Tony Fernandes sold Caterham F1 to a Swiss-Middle Eastern consortium last week, with the team having languished at the bottom of the timesheets in F1 ever since its birth five years ago.
