Hockenheim Qualifying: Rosberg fends off Williams duo

Nico Rosberg will start the German Grand Prix from pole Nico Rosberg claimed his fifth pole position of the season, this time for his home German Grand Prix while his Mercedes teammate, and rival for the title, Lewis Hamilton crashed heavily during qualifying at Hockenheim. The much anticipated shootout between the Silver Arrows drivers did not materialise as in Q1, Hamilton's Mercedes suffered a front left brake disc failure as he stepped on the pedal going into Sachs Curve and he plummeted into the barrier a few meters from the track.
