German GP marks two years since last Alonso, Ferrari pole

Ferrari’s miserable season continued at the German Grand Prix on Saturday with neither of its drivers making an impact in qualifying continuing the Italian team’s barren run of pole position. The last time Ferrari was on pole position was with Fernando Alonso at the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim in 2012, which is incidentally the venue of this weekend’s race. On Saturday, Alonso could do no better than seventh, qualifying more than a second off the pace of pole-sitter Nico Rosberg, while teammate Kimi Raikkonen was knocked out in Q2 with the Finn to line-up 12th on the grid on Sunday.
