Mercedes confirms Hamilton grid penalty

Lewis Hamilton will take at least a five-place grid penalty for a gearbox change following his crash in qualifying for the German Grand Prix. A front right brake disc failure pitched Hamilton in to a spin under braking for the Turn 13 hairpin, with his Mercedes hitting the tyre barrier head-on. Following overnight inspections, the team has confirmed that the gearbox was damaged in the incident and will need to be changed.
