Maldonado believes he can score points despite qualifying problem

Despite failing to complete a lap time in the first segment qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix and being classified in 22nd position, Pastor Maldonado believes points are possible in tomorrow's race. The Venezuelan cites the unpredictable weather and the number of new sets of tyres as his reasons, saying 'anything can happen' during the 70-lap event. He was on his out lap in Q1 when he was forced to stop his car. Lotus has yet to discover what caused the problem, with trackside operations director Alan Permane saying it is to do with the power-unit's energy store.
