Kate Walker: When the show turns fatal

For all that Formula One likes to talk about “the show”, orchestrating drama for the benefit of television audiences can go very wrong indeed. And while the F1 bigwigs are turning their minds to ways of improving our sport's appeal, they would do well to look across the pond to the tragedy that took place at Canandaigua Motorsports Park on Saturday night. Kevin Ward Jr lost his life when he took the decision to walk towards a live racetrack, gesticulating at Tony Stewart, after the two had been involved in an incident on the previous lap that knocked Ward out of the race.
