Raikkonen will start from eighth on the grid after qualifying nearly a second off the pace of team-mate Fernando Alonso. Raikkonen has struggled to match Alonso all season, but in Spa-Francorchamps made no excuses for the size of the gap. "It was quite difficult conditions and I just made quite a few mistakes on the last lap," he said. "I was held up a bit on the outlap by other cars and maybe that affected a bit the way I wanted to start the whole lap and get the tyres ready.
