Lauda relieved as Mercedes extend gap to rivals

Niki Lauda at Spa Mercedes F1 team chairman Niki Lauda has expressed relief at Spa-Francorchamps as Mercedes appeared to have pulled out an even greater advantage over the chasing pack. Formula 1 legend Lauda said that after Red Bull‘s victory in Hungary prior to the summer break, he had been worried the field was closing in. 'My big concern was the summer break,' Lauda told German television RTL after qualifying in Belgium, where pole sitter Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton had a huge advantage over their chasers in wet conditions.
