Monza: is there a future beyond the handshakes?

Following the Italian Grand Prix, we left Monza strongly believing that a new contract would be finalized in the days that followed. By way of a reminder, a last minute press conference, called on the Friday of the Grand Prix, featured the various 'top guns' at the table; Jean Todt, Automobile Club d'Italia (ACI) president Angelo Sticchi Damiani, Bernie Ecclestone, Roberto Maroni and Marco Coldani VP of the ACI Milan. Despite the smiles and handshaking, there was no signature on a contract, this, we were told, was merely postponed for a few days due to 'jurisdictional' reasons that required it be finalized in the UK.
