Vandoorne: ‘2017 was my last chance for F1 drive'

Stoffel Vandoorne believes that 2017 would've been his last chance to secure a seat on the Formula One grid, having missed out in 2016. The 2015 GP2 champion was recently confirmed as one of McLaren's 2017 race drivers alongside Fernando Alonso, with Jenson Button stepping down into a reserve driver role. With the McLaren line-up being a major talking point in the driver transfer market. As McLaren reserve driver, Vandoorne was given the opportunity to impress when he substituted for Fernando Alonso at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
