Verstappen retires; still wins F1 Driver Of The Day

United States Grand Prix – Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen had an unusual afternoon in Austin – he pitted to an empty pit box, shortly before retiring with a gearbox issue. Verstappen fell to P5 at the race start, being jumped by the Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen. Managing to get back past the Ferrari with an on track pass after the first pit-stops, Verstappen closed up on the leading pack to apply pressure to P3 Nico Rosberg. That was until Lap 26, when the Dutch driver came into the pits, only to find that his team were not ready for him.
