1995 Canadian GP - Jean Alesi scores maiden F1 win in Montréal

Frenchman Jean Alesi captured his maiden, and only, Formula 1 victory in Montréal, the day of his 31st birthday, June 11, 1995. Jean Alesi was a front runner in the Intercontinental Formula 3000 series for Eddie Jordan’s team when he made his debut in Formula 1 in front of his home crowd at the Grand Prix de France at the Paul Ricard circuit, driving for Tyrrell. Alesi qualified 16th, but ran a brilliant race to claim fourth position at the end. Alesi drove for Ken Tyrrell in 1989 and 1990 before the Italian descendant got an offer he couldn’t refuse from Ferrari… It took him four - and a half years to score his first victory. The Ferrari F1 cars were pretty unreliable at that time...
