Gasly: Target is to be on the grid in 2018 with Toro Rosso
< > Pierre Gasly has been knocking on the door of Formula 1 for the past two years, the Frenchman has ticked all the boxes and promotion to the Toro Rosso team this year was expected, but it did not happen as nothing is guaranteed in the political cesspool that is Red Bull's young driver programme. Gasly, the 2016 GP2 Series (renamed now to F2) champion said ahead of the summer break, 'My plan is of course to be with Toro Rosso on the grid, that's the target, to be on the grid in 2018. So many things are going on at the moment, hopefully it can turn out well for me, of course we need to wait at the moment but definitely the plan is to be on the grid next year.'
