Palmer latest to be hit with grid penalty

Jolyon Palmer will start toward the back of the grid for the Japanese Grand Prix after being hit with a 20-place grid penalty. The Brit has taken on his fifth internal combustion engine, and his sixth turbocharger and MGU-H resulting in the subsequent grid drop. Palmer is now the fourth driver to take a penalty this weekend, with Carlos Sainz, Valtteri Bottas and Fernando Alonso all being penalised as well. With new Renault engines going in for Sainz and Palmer, it is looking more and more likely than Red Bull will also need to change to a new power unit before the end of season, with Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen feeling the effects.
