Palmer out, Sainz in, after Japan

Jolyon Palmer will leave Renault after Sunday's Japanese GP with Carlos Sainz replacing him from the next race in Austin. Daniil Kvyat will return to a seat at Toro Rosso to race alongside the newly-promoted Pierre Gasly from the US GP. Sainz had already signed a deal to race for Renault next season but the Spaniard is now joining his new team four races early. Toro Rosso said "circumstances have changed" and they had agreed to release Sainz sooner than planned. Palmer had previously insisted he would complete the 2017 season with Renault but announced his imminent departure on his Instagram page several hours after qualifying at Suzuka.
