Christian Fittipaldi’s car back flips over the finish line at Monza 1993 While the two Minardi’s of Pierluigi Martini and Christian Fittipaldi are classified finishers in seventh and eighth place respectively at the 1993 Italian Grand Prix, what happened at the chequered flag caused one of the weirdest finishes in F1 history. Fittipaldi’s left front wheel made contact with his team-mate’s right rear wheel which sent the Brazilian into a perfect back flip before the car landed on its wheels and skidded over the finish line. Neither driver was hurt or lost position but Fittipaldi’s car picked up hefty damage. Related Articles ‹ Page 24 up
