Gasly felt 'angry' to miss out on 2017 F1 seat to Kvyat

Pierre Gasly has revealed that he felt "angry, disappointed and sad" after initially missing out on a Formula 1 seat at Toro Rosso to Daniil Kvyat for the 2017 season. Gasly was tipped to take an F1 drive with Toro Rosso at the beginning of last season after winning the GP2 title in 2016, only for Red Bull to give Kvyat a reprieve and extend his deal with its B-team. Gasly was placed in the Japanese Super Formula series for his main 2017 programme, only to replace Kvyat from the Malaysian Grand Prix onwards due to the Russian's poor form.
