Since its return to F1 as a constructor, Renault has made no secret of the fact that its Enstone HQ was in need of a massive overhaul. As well as a workforce that had shrunk considerably under the previous under-funded ownership, much of the equipment and facilities at the Surrey factory was either out-dated or in need of repair.
