Spectacular Battle of Attrition at the Monaco GP in 1996

The much anticipated 2018 Monaco Grand Prix is all set to go this weekend. The 1996 Monaco GP, holds the record for the fewest actual finishers(3) and the most retirements(85.7%) in a Formula 1 race. Only three drivers out of 21 starters actually crossed the finish line and took the chequered flag. Olivier Panis (Ligier) scored the only victory of his career at this race. Even a light shower can cause havoc on this bumpy, narrow and twisty circuit. The 1996 Monaco GP unfolded after heavy rains had fallen between the warm-up session and the race start.
