It's come home: McLaren's Indy 500-winner back in Woking!

McLaren Rumours continue to swirl that McLaren might enter the Verizon IndyCar Series full time next year and compete in the Indianapolis 500. If it did, it would be a return to a period of the team's greatest endeavours. McLaren first ran a team at Indianapolis in 1970, beginning with the 'curvy' M15. However designer Gordon Coppuck decided to start afresh for 1971 and produced the M16, which went on to race in the 500-mile events for five seasons. The car's shape was inspired by Formula 1's Lotus 72 which had won the 1970 drivers world championship for Jochen Rindt.
