Ferrari confirms Charles Leclerc for 2019 F1 seat

Ferrari has announced that Charles Leclerc will replace Kimi Raikkonen at the team in Formula 1 next season. The identity of Sebastian Vettel’s 2019 team-mate has been a talking point for much of the summer months, with both Raikkonen and rising star Leclerc in contention. Ferrari confirmed on Tuesday that Raikkonen would be stepping down from his role at the end of the year, and shortly after announced Leclerc as his replacement. The Monegasque driver was picked up by Ferrari's driver academy in 2016 and impressed by claiming successive titles in GP3 and Formula 2, earning a seat with Sauber for 2018.
