Mercedes say they have made progress in understanding why they lacked performance in Mexico where 2018 champion Lewis Hamilton and team-mate Valtteri Bottas struggled to keep up with both Red Bull and Ferrari. Hamilton went on to finish fourth – enough to clinch the title – and almost a lap down on race winner Max Verstappen, but was forced to make two stops in a race many expected would see just the one, whilst Bottas, fifth and lapped, made three stops as the pair struggled with degradation.
