F1 claims increased TV and digital audience in 2018

F1 has issued a press release claiming that the sport's TV and digital audience grew in 2018. The report comes at a time the race attendance figures have been questioned, with an unexplained readjustment of the 2017 attendance at the Canadian Grand Prix suggesting that somehow 180,000 attendees subsequently disappeared. Like the race attendance figures, the TV and digital press release contains wording which makes it difficult to compare like with like, while, similarly to the press release issued on the eve of the Christmas holidays, the ability to compare 2018's figures to 2017's is hampered by changes to the manner in which some statistics have been measured.
