Mercedes confirm Hamilton suffered from floor damage

Australian Grand Prix – The car being driven by Lewis Hamilton in Melbourne was suffering from floor damage, Mercedes reveal. The reigning constructors' champions have confirmed that Hamilton had been suffering from floor damage for at least some part of the Australian Grand Prix. The Briton had taken pole position for the season-opener, but was overtaken by team-mate Valtteri Bottas at the start of the race. He was then unable to compete with Bottas' pace, and dropped to over twenty seconds behind his team-mate. Hamilton's race then became a battle to fend off Max Verstappen, who caught up to the Mercedes when equipped with much fresher tyres. He held on for second place, but Bottas...
