Rowland gave up on 'extremely political' F1 dream

Former Williams and Renault test driver Oliver Rowland has admitted he gave up on his Formula 1 dream because of the "extremely political" aspects of the sport. Rowland tested a few times for Renault and Williams but failed to ever make the crucial step up to Formula 1. However, nowadays, Rowland is a racing in Formula E - trying to produce a career at Nissan e.Dams. The 26-year-old is now enjoying life in the all-electric version of Formula 1, and he seems grateful to be handed the opportunity; admitting he is no longer looking to pursue a career in F1.
