Fernando's home win and Michael's final podium

On this day in 2012, Fernando Alonso captured his 29th career win in Formula 1, the Spaniard winning the European Grand Prix on home turf, in Valencia. The Ferrari driver led home a distinguished duo of fellow world champions, with Kimi Raikkonen finishing second for Lotus and Michael Schumacher coming home third for Mercedes. Valencia marked the German ace's 155th and final podium in F1.
