Sergio Perez believes that the current lack of competitive racing in Formula 1 is damaging the sport and believes between the best and the worst drivers there is only a very fine margin, but the cars create the gap. In 2018 only Perez himself from outside the top three teams finished on a podium when he came in third at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. This season no driver from outside the big three have been on the podium and Mercedes have won every race apart from the last Grand Prix in Austria.
