Lance Stroll in first Q3 appearance of 2019 amidst Monza qualifying controversy

Lance Stroll has made a long-awaited return to a Q3 session during a controversial qualifying for the 2019 Italian Grand Prix at Monza, ending the session in ninth having failed to set a lap-time. Stroll, who for the first time this season out-qualifies team-mate Sergio Pérez, progressed to the top-ten shoot-out at Monza for the first time this year but failed to set a lap-time as he became one of seven drivers who failed to start their laps before the checkered flag fell. Only Carlos Sainz Jr. completed a competitive lap during the final runs.
