Channel 4 and Sky extend F1 TV deal

Channel 4 and Sky have agreed a fresh deal to retain free-to-air coverage of Formula 1 in the United Kingdom beyond the end of the 2019 season. In a statement released on Tuesday, Channel 4 confirmed it had struck a new commercial contract with Sky to continue showing highlights of all races, as well as full live coverage of the British Grand Prix, on what it described as a “multi-year” deal. Sky’s exclusive rights to broadcast coverage of the championship in the UK began this year in a deal that runs until 2024, meaning Channel 4 was forced to stop its previous free-to-air live coverage.
