Correa speaks publicly after 'successful' surgery

Juan Manuel Correa has thanked well-wishers for their "immense" support, as he spoke publicly for the first time since suffering severe leg injuries in an accident in an F2 race at Spa-Francorchamps in August. In the latest update on his condition, Correa's family state that the 20-year-old underwent 17 hours of surgery in hospital in London last Sunday, with doctors 'confident in a successful procedure' four days on. The Ecuadorian-American remains under 'careful observation' and is now scheduled for 'one additional, less complex surgery' in a fortnight's time.
