Williams satisfied with new front wing improvement

Japanese Grand Prix – Williams' new front wing for Japan was used in practice, with a direct comparison between the new and old spec. Williams brought a new front wing along to Japan, as the team introduce upgrades to their car in moves that are likely to be carried forward into the 2020 design. With regulations pretty much unchanged for next year, the new front wing was fitted onto George Russell's FW42 for FP1, with Robert Kubica running the old spec. For FP2, the pair swapped around as Kubica went out splashed with flow-viz paint on the front wing. Kubica finished the day in P19 in FP2, with a best time of 1:30.916. George Russell was P20, just over a tenth off Kubica's best lap....
