F1-style superlicence could be coming to junior series

FIA president Jean Todt says they are considering introducing an F1-style superlicence system into junior series. Since 2015 a points system has been in place to offer a certain number of points to drivers in major championships, based on their finishing positions. These points, along with the requirement of being over 18 and having at least two years of experience in junior single-seaters, allows drivers to obtain a superlicence and compete in F1. The idea was largely a response to Max Verstappen debuting for Toro Rosso in 2015 at just 17, but now the debate of whether it should also be present in junior racing has been started by the actions of F2 driver Mahaveer Raghunathan.
