Formula E to get World Championship status from season 7

The FIA World Motor Sport Council has voted that Formula E will be recognised as a full FIA World Championship series from the start of next season. The all-electric series, which will be known as the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, will join the Formula One World Championship, World Endurance Championship, World Rally Championship, World Rallycross Championship and Karting World Championship as the most prestigious series sanctioned by the FIA.
