Hamilton to resume Mercedes contract talks at start of 2020 F1 season

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has confirmed he will resume Formula 1 contract negotiations with Lewis Hamilton at the start of this season and remains confident of retaining the defending world champion. At the end of 2019 rumours swirled linking Hamilton to a potential Ferrari switch as he plots out the final stages of his F1 career. Since then Ferrari has tied down Charles Leclerc to a new long-term deal, while Red Bull has completed a similar agreement with Max Verstappen, with the F1 driver market gaining early momentum over the winter. Until Hamilton confirms his F1 future the six-time world champion will naturally be the hottest property with his current £40 million-a-year deal...
