Brown: Botched Andretti deal enabled Alonso signing for Indy

McLaren CEO Zak Brown admitted that Fernando Alonso's enrollment for Indy by Arrow McLaren SP is a direct result of the Spaniard's failed talks with Andretti Autosport. Alonso has rejoined McLaren for its new IndyCar venture with Arrow Schmidt Peterson, the two-time world champion running at the Brickyard in May alongside full-time driver Patricio O'Ward and Oliver Askew. But the new Chevy-powered Arrow McLaren SP entity certainly wasn't Alonso's first choice to try and fulfill his Triple Crown ambitions.
